About EFC Chicago
Under God’s guidance, the former EFC Naperville and EFC Schaumburg merged in 2000 to form the Evangelical Formosan Church of Chicago. Through God’s wondrous guidance and the united dedication of the members, the church purchased its current chapel in April 2000 and began Sunday worship in the new chapel on the first Sunday of May.
Under the leadership of its first pastor, Tsai Mao-tang, the Taiwanese language ministry made significant progress, establishing a stable foundation for the church’s ministry. In 2005, Pastor Tsai resigned due to his commitment to missionary work in Taiwan and returned to Taiwan. Subsequently, Pastors Tseng Chao-jui, Cheng Chi-chao, Ho Jung-wen, and Huang Kuo-an came to pastor the church. During this period, the church actively promoted discipleship, edifying the brothers and sisters in personal preaching and spiritual growth. Pastor Huang Kuoan retired in March 2022 and became the Advisor Pastor, continuing to assist in some of the church’s ministries.
Currently, under the assistance of Pastor Huang Kuoan, the elders and deacons are leading the church members in striving to build a church that is constantly in prayer, spiritually growing, filled with the gospel, serving as a unified whole, and passing on its traditions from generation to generation.
Sunday worship is primarily in Taiwanese, with simultaneous Mandarin interpretation provided; simultaneous English interpretation can also be arranged when necessary. Starting in the second halfof 2022, two in-person Happiness Groups were held annually to share the gospel with seekers. In addition, the church provides services including Sunday worship, Sunday school, Tuesday prayer meetings, Thursday / Friday small group meetings, special holiday gatherings, visitations, care activities, fellowship, social events, charity events, and free medical consultations.
The church’s English-speaking section was initially pastored by Pastor David Choi, and later by Pastor Robin Koshy. After a period of stable growth, the English-speaking section left the church in 2015 to become an independent English-speaking church.
For trans-generational ministry, the church established a young adult fellowship in June 2023, currently focusing on Mandarin and English-speaking ministries.
We pray that the Lord will guide our church to become a church filled with the Gospel, working for the Lord’s love, proclaiming the good news, and actively saving millions of souls.
We sincerely welcome friends who are eager to know the truth to attend our church’s various gatherings, to discuss God’s word with us, and to know the true God. We also welcome brothers and sisters who have moved to this area to join our loving family, to work together in service and worship God.
All glory to the Triune God. Amen!
